A trip to Seine river, is there anything more Parisian than that? On my last visit to Paris, I had a chance to make the boat tour in the Seine, and it was AMAZING. At first, I thought it would be too touristic (there we go with tourist x traveler debate again), but I shut my mouth when I got in the boat.
I highly recommend it, for those who want to make a different trip, see the city from a different perspective, for romantic couples or for those who have only a few days to enjoy the city (for this last group especially, it is a must!).
The Seine River Tour
I did my tour with the Bateaux Parisiens, they have two departure locations, one at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, and the other is at the Notre Dame. Their route is the same and both returns to their departure location at the end of the tour.
Their boats are very modern, they are panoramic so you can have a great view of the city along the way. During the tour, there is a guide that gives explanations and comments along the way, and for those who only speak their native language, there are audio guides available in other languages.

The tour takes one hour and passes in front of many famous points in the city like the Eiffel Tower, Musee d’Orsay,
Notre Dame, Alexandre III Bridge, Conciergerie, etc. You can even spot some part of the newest part of the city at the end of the route.
You can take the tour during the day and night. Both are completely unique experiences, to be honest. During the day you have a good idea of the Parisian life, you can have a glimpse of the routine of the city. On the other hand, during the night, the lights are on and the view you have is stunning.
During the night tour, you also have the option to have dinner at the boat, which is great, the dinner is very well served. It is a perfect activity for couples.
We decided to take the tour at the end of the day, like this we could see the city “during the day” at the beginning of the tour and see the city with the lights on in the end.
During the night Paris transforms itself, it is such a beautiful feeling, the sight of Eiffel Tower with those lights blinking is just stunning. Memorable sight for a first time trip, I may say.
We had the chance to see many points we didn’t and admire the architecture from a different angle.
Inside the boat you see people from all kind of nationalities and you realize you are literally just a small being from one of the many countries and cultures around the globe. You see people having different reactions, Chinese people clicking everything around, that Indian family who decided to take control of the biggest window in front of the boat to spend ages taking pictures of themselves, and the Europeans who always remain sitting, following the rules, and complaining about why there is a family standing in the front of the boat.
Normal Boat Trip: starting from 15€
Lunchtime Cruise: starting from 59 €
Dinner Cruise: starting from 69 €
If you have only a few days to admire this city, I highly recommend taking this tour because it covers a great part of everything you must see in the city, and even if you didn’t have time to walk around, with the boat tour you still have a chance to come really close to the touristic points and don’t forget to take a look in our 3 days guide to Paris!
